Winter Storm Helena

The report called for nugs… I hopped off the plane from tropical Costa Rica and was immediately greeted with snow flurries.  Depressed and cold, I checked the report for the days coming and saw a looming storm.

The report changed day to day as usual, shrouding any clear indication to what the swell would actually offer.

So it snowed.  Weather goobs didn’t know what the hell to tell people.  However, when the snow started to dump it was clear that the system was bigger than previously indicated.

The snow ceased in the early-morning hours and ushered in shoulder to overhead surf in the form of icy pits.  Fifteen degrees and firing–these were the photos that followed…
